Professional info

I am a graduate student at University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign. My concentration of study being Construction Management, I have a profound interest in construction optimization and data modelling. Along with conventional construction management techniques, I believe in integrated approach to construction planning and control. In present technological age, the integration of smart technology to increase construction management efficiencies is imperative.

I believe in prompt and efficient information exchange as a means of efficient management practice. Construction projects are often brimming with information, which if managed properly lead to very high efficiency of the project. For this purpose, I have developed keen interst in Building Information management tools and try to implement its applications in various projects.

I constantly strive to enhance my knowledge to keep up with ever advancing technology. I have passed for Fundamentals of Engineering Exam conducted by NCEES in January 2014 and Green Associate exam conducted by the GBCI in October 2014 to get accredited.

In today's world, the civil infrastructure industry is, the largest indstry to be slated to change drastically in the next few years due advancement in management practices. With the advent of cloud computing and massive automation in operations, the construction sector is evolving with higher standards in safety and better efficiencies and my effort is to not just embrace but continually advance in such technologies.

Education

University of Illinois, Urbana Champaign (MS Civil Engineering)

2013 - present                                                                                    GPA: 3.72/ 4.0

University of Illinois is a world leader in research and technology. Located in the amiable Urbana-Champaign community, the University is a historical institution known for its prestigious alumni and technological breakthroughs. The civil engineering graduate program offered is ranked  1st in the United States.

University of Pune (Bachelor in Civil Engineering)

2008 - 2013                                                                                           CGPA: 3.7/ 4(estimated*)

University of Pune is one of the most reputed universities in India for known its excellent curriculum. Established in 1949, Pune University is popularly known as "Oxford of the East" with 307 research institutes and 612 affiliated colleges.

I  obtained a bachelors degree in Civil Engineering in Nov 2013. In spite of my glowing academic performance, I had to take a year gap (2011-2012) to recover from a medical condition (Psoriasis).

*since University of Pune does not follow GPA system, the percentage has been converted to the CGPA based on levels of pass grades provided

Interests

Social:

Engineering Outreach Society, UIUC

2013 - Present

Since the first few weeks at Urbana Champaign, I became a member of a student body  ' Engineering Outreach Society' which uses interesting models to teach engineering concepts to kids. As teaching has always been my passion, I thoroughly enjoy it when I get a chance to teach concepts of science to 3rd and 4th grade students at Leal Elementary School, Urbana. Some of the cool projects we have done include topics like Silly Putty, Thermometers, Baloon Rockets, Buoyancy, Newspaper Bridges, Acids and Bases, Energy, Viscosity, Friction and Electricity.

Sports:

Volleyball

2008 - present

Since the very first day in undergraduate college, I have had an immense interest in Volleyball and have represented my institute in different cities and towns. Even till date, I prefer to play a few matches to bust stress whenever I can manage the time.

Pleasure:

Being an Introvert, I find peace and solace in Reading books, Biking, Meditating for relaxation, Teaching, Travelling and Music.
